Small step forward
I don’t know who is more to be pitied — the caged chickens on “egg farms” who are so crammed together they can’t even turn around, or the farms’ owners who’ve sold their souls to maximize egg production and their incomes.
Proposition 2 on the November statewide ballot provides at least a small step forward by requiring that pigs and calves, as well as chickens be able to turn around in their enclosures.
The fact that we need such a law is a sad commentary on the practices of some farms. At least its a step forward.
