Letters to the editor: Feeling the love

I have had the pleasure of managing the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program since 2005 and this year was, by far, one of the most rewarding. I wanted to take this opportunity to publically express my deep gratitude to the volunteers who dedicated so much time and energy to make this such a successful

tax year. I am also grateful to JEDI and Nancy Swift for continuing to shoulder the burden of this free service for so many years through thick and thin, good times and bad.

We tackled the season with a team of nine volunteers, 6 returning and 3 new. With this small but mighty force we completed over 400 returns and assisted over 30 taxpayers to prepare their own taxes

using My Free Taxes.

Taxes are stressful! This year even more so with all the new tax law. Clients seemed a little anxious but once we explained the changes and completed their returns, the gratitude was overwhelming. Hence, our motive - it makes you feel really good when you ease someone else’s burden. That’s why we do it and we are surely feeling the love!
