Letters to the Editor: Keeping elders safe

On a visit to my dear friend at an assisted living facility, no masks or social distancing was required. We know this negligence could cause deaths. Not even the staff had masks on. Certainly there should be more concern for the most vulnerable segment of our population. I fear for my friends life. So I called a County Supervisor and angrily complained. He passed the buck to the County Health Department. This is inadequate leadership. The Supervisors have an obligation to correct this potentially fatal policy error.

I filed a complaint with County Health. I stated my opinion that this is elder abuse. When we were children our parents protected us. Now that they are old, we have an obligation to protect them. How can they protest in there dependent circumstances? Protest on their behalf.

Furthermore, please wear a mask. I’m getting over the hill myself. Eat healthy, exercise, and be a force for good. And keep the hell away from me, until we have a vaccine.
