COS Hall of Fame banquet to honor athletes May 9

The 1968 College of the Siskiyous men's basketball team will be inducted into the school's athletic Hall of Fame this coming Saturday night in Yreka.

Past and present Siskiyou County athletes will be celebrated when College of the Siskiyous holds its annual Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony May 9 at the Yreka Community Center and Theater in Yreka.

The college will honor its class of 2009 HOF inductees as well as a current Male and Female Eagle athlete and the top high school athletes from throughout the county.

Many of the high schools in the county have nominated their athletes of the year including:

Mount Shasta:?Miranda Duggan and Steven Reed.

Weed: Aaron Power-Bearden and Madison Moser.

Dunsmuir:?Erin Kirch and Heather Coe.

Yreka:?Carrie Watson and Devin Howard.

Etna: Jordan Pehle-Munson and Sarah Loogman.

Happy Camp: Bill Brag and Aja Conrad.

This year COS Hall of Fame inductees are: Cory Branker – Football; Roland Holcomb – Basketball; CeCe (Caddell) Carter – Ski; Bryant Long – Football; Don Harmon – Community Service; Joel Kubli – Football; Mike DeRoss – Baseball; and the 1968 Men’s Basketball Team coached by retired COS instructor Sid Smith.

The public is invited to attend this gala dinner and fun-filled evening to celebrate the COS athletes and coaching staff. The evening will also feature a catered buffet dinner. Tickets to attend the event are $25 per person and should be purchased by May 1. Tickets will not be available for sale at the door.
