Coach Bob Crowell is shown with Olympic beach volleyball champion Misty May, who he coached at the junior level. In his 25-plus years as a coach Crowell has coached 18 All Americans and two national championship teams. He’ll coach a camp at Dunsmuir High School in July 2010.

Bob Crowell, who coached Olympic volleyball star Misty May at the junior level and many other All Americans, is returning to lead Dunsmuir High School’s 2010 Volleyball Camp July 19 to 23.

The camp, open to south county players and coaches, will be held at Dunsmuir High in two sessions each day – 9 a.m. to noon for middle school and 6 to 9 p.m. for high school.

The fee is $20 per day or $75 per week per player. DHS athletic director Ray Kellar points out that a similar one-week camp at Long Beach City College would cost $400 per player.

“We did this last year with great success,” Kellar said of the summer volleyball camp. During last year’s camp, DHS coach Lisa Kirch said, “This is a great opportunity for the girls to get a touch of bigger city stuff. It’s a great opportunity for the girls and us coaches.”

Crowell, who has 25-plus years of volleyball coaching experience, coached Misty May at the junior level, as well as two national champions, two national champion runnerups, 10 high school league champions, 18 All-Americans, and 7 top 10 Jr. Olympic teams.

A drawing will be held to win an autographed t-shirt or picture of Misty May
