Sports update: Eagles win big, 69-21

Freshman running back Taylor Cox rushed for 198 yards and scored 5 touchdowns in College of the Siskiyous’ 69-21 romp over Mendocino in the rain and the wind Saturday at Herschel Meredith Stadium in Weed.

Sophomore quarterback Josh Hudson threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a score.

The Eagle defense contributed a pair of touchdowns in the second half as sophomore lineman Devin Howard of Yreka returned a fumble recovery 27 yards to paydirt and lineman Jacob Whygle-Gonzales scored the Eagles’ final TD on a 20 yard interception return.

Siskiyous, which held a 41-0 half time lead, improved to 4-3 for the season and 1-1 in conference play, while Mendocino fell to 3-4 and 0-2.
