Sports update: High school scores from Friday, April 6

The Mount Shasta High School softball team and Dunsmuir Tiger baseball team were among the big local winners Friday, April 6.

Defending champion Mount Shasta opened Shasta Cascade League softball play with a 7-3 and 11-2 sweep at Fall River in McArthur.

Dunsmuir won big in Evergreen League action at Big Valley, 18-1 and 11-1.

Mount Shasta's baseball team lost twice at Fall River, 2-1 and 4-0, while the Weed Cougar baseball team dropped a pair to Etna at Son's Park in Weed, 16-6 and 16-3.

The Cougars held a 6-5 lead and were three outs away from victory after 6 innings in game one, "but then the wheels came off," coach Josh Oates said.
