Exuberant fans reach out to congratulate the Eagles after an 8-0 playoff victory over Yuba May 5, 2012 in Weed.

Winning pitcher Anna Miller allowed just one hit and hit a home run as the College of the Siskiyous softball team defeated Yuba, 8-0, in Saturday’s Northern California playoff opener in Weed.

Stephanie Lascelles added a two-run shot over the centerfield fence to cap a five-run rally in the fourth inning. That gave the Eagles the runs they needed to end the game after five innings.

It was the 19th win in a row for Siskiyous (36-2), which needs to win one more game against Yuba on Sunday to advance to the Super Regional round. Sunday’s first game in Weed is scheduled for noon. A second game, if needed, is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The first two hitters in the Eagles’ lineup scored two runs apiece Saturday: Lydia North was 2 for 3 in the leadoff spot, and Tre Sullivan was 3 for 3 with a double and 2 runs batted in.

Lascelles and Shelby Burke had 2 hits each. Burke had two doubles in two at-bats, one that drove in Rose Marston with the first run of the fourth inning.
