Here's where kids can learn basketball skills from COS Eagles this summer
The annual College of the Siskiyous men’s basketball camp for boys and girls ages 5 to 14 is coming up June 21-25 at the gym at the COS campus in Weed.
COS coaches and players will coach the camp.
Kids ages 5 to 8 attend from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and 9 to 14 year-olds attend from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Kids will learn basketball fundamentals and play games while receiving individual instruction. The fee for the camp is $50. Every camper will receive a camp t-shirt.
A waiver form needs to be signed by a parent or guardian. It can be sent by email or signed on the day of the first camp.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks must be worn in the gym, and coaches and campers will have daily temperature checks before entering the gym.
For more information, contact COS men’s basketball coach Kyle Heath at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call him at 530-938-5859.
Heath said his hope is for “kids to meet some new friends, enjoy some basketball and get to know our program and players.”
The camp is a great way to get kids out of the house and have some fun and “try to get back to some normalcy for the community and the young people,” Heath said.
This is the camp’s sixth year.
“We want young kids to have a chance to get to know our program and campus and college,” Heath said. “I think we should offer as many clinics/camps/community work as possible. It’s good for the young men in our program to learn to give back and be an active part of a community.
“This is a chance for us to give back to the community and hopefully, as we get back to normalcy, continue to offer and host as many camps/clinics as possible,” Heath added.
