Melissa Dailey, the 2016 Golden Valley Conference MVP for the league champion College of the Siskiyous Eagles, holds her All-State North Team t-shirt.

Kristen (DeBortoli) Riccomini recently became the first College of the Siskiyous women's basketball player to be voted into the California Community College Hall of Fame.

She was the only Eagle to make All-State in back-to-back seasons (1990-91 and ’90-92) until Casie Johnson did it in 2013-14 and ’14-15.

Johnson, who won back-to-back Golden Valley Conference MVP awards, is now playing at Troy State, which recently won its conference tournament and qualified for the NCAA women’s championship tournament.

Coach Tom Powers, who is himself a California Community College Hall of Famer, said Johnson has averaged 5 to 6 points and 15 minutes of playing time in her first year at Troy State. Her team is scheduled to open the NCAAs against Oregon State Friday.

Powers said Riccomini will be inducted into the state Hall of Fame during next year’s state tournament.

The Eagles’ newest All-State player is freshman Melissa Dailey, this year’s GVC MVP. One of the top offensive players in the state for the 26-2 Eagles, she has an opportunity to become the third Eagle to make All-State in back-to-back seasons.
