Heat U12 traveling team to play rare home game Sunday in Weed
The Siskiyou Heat U12 team is scheduled to play a doubleheader this Sunday, April 28, at College of the Siskiyous in Weed.
Featuring six players from Mount Shasta, one from Weed, one from McCloud, three from Yreka, and one from Fort Jones, The Heat will be hosting the Klamath Falls Basin Bandits starting at 1 p.m.
This is a rare local game for the Heat, which is mainly a traveling tournament team. Heat players are Siskiyou County girls who participate in girls fast pitch softball beyond what is offered by local recreational softball.
This year's Heat roster includes Cami Brooks, Taryn Linares, Nicole Jones, Quincie Cross, Lily Hitchcock, and Bella Powers from Mount Shasta; Savanna Reynolds of Weed; Ialee Hering of McCloud; Autumn Giannini, Katie White, and Morgan Collins of Yreka; and Cailey Rizzardo of Fort Jones.
Sunday's games were originally scheduled to be played in Mount Shasta, but have been moved to COS.
Most recently, the Heat U12 team defeated Grants Pass twice Sunday in Grants Pass, 19-5 and 13-4. Lily Hitchcock, Katie White and Ialee Hering all tripled, and Cailey Rizzardo added a double to held the Heat score 32 runs. Nicole Jones went 3 for 6 at the plate; Katie White was the winning pitcher in game one; and Cami Brooks got the win in game two. Ialee Hering pitched in relief in both games.
