Juniors open Little League All Star season Saturday in Mount Shasta

Nolan Johnson is one of the 2014 South Siskiyou Little League junior all stars who will be facing teams from Yreka, West Redding, East Redding, Corning, Foothill, Red Bluff and Cottonwood in the tournament scheduled to start June 28 on the Mount Shasta High School field.

South Siskiyou Little League all star teams are getting ready to compete in a series of tournaments, beginning with the 2014 Juniors Little League All Stars Tournament in Mount Shasta. The first game is scheduled for Saturday, June 28, at 1:30 p.m.

Four other south county all star teams will play their tournaments in the Redding area beginning July 5.

The Junior team is managed by Jacob Barr with coaches Chuck Mahan, Kale Riccomini and Brian Johnson. All Stars are Dillon Ward, Nolan Johnson, Cameron DeBortoli, Hunter Stock, Gage Kinkade, Kole Riccomini, Kaden Riccomini, Abraham Barr, Kaimana Ferguson, Myles DeLeon, Robert Hodes and Sean Gunter.

The Junior tournament is scheduled to be played on the Mount Shasta High School baseball field from June 28 to July 10. Teams include South Siskiyou, Yreka, West Redding, East Redding, Corning, Foothill, Red Bluff and Cottonwood.

The league is searching for volunteers to help with umpiring, concessions, and field maintenance. Anyone interested in lending a hand is asked to contact Leslie Johnson at 859-3401 or southsiskiyoull@gmail.com

The Seniors All Stars team, which has not yet been drafted, will play its tournament in Anderson.

The 11-12 All Stars, managed by Jason Ferguson and coached by Marty Bryan, are scheduled to play in West Redding.

The 10-11 team, managed by Jeremy Keen, plays in Cottonwood.

The 9-10 team, managed by John Kennedy and coached by Brandon Cordes and Rick Casteneda, is scheduled to play in Red Bluff.
