Police arrested a Quincy man on drunked driving charges after an accident at the intersection of Washington and Randolph streets.
Police charged Mukeshkumar Patel, 32, of 500 Washington St. #303, with OUI liquor and negligent operation of a motor vehicle after the May 20 incident.
Patel’s car allegedly struck a second vehicle as its driver turned left onto Washington Street from Randolph Street, said Lt. Helena Findlen, who reported no injuries in the crash.
The operator of the second vehicle told police he saw Patel’s car traveling at a high rate of speed, Findlen said.
Police noticed a strong odor of alcohol when Patel got out of his car. He was not injured. Patel acknowledged he had been drinking, police said.He was arraigned at Stoughton District Court May 21.
Patel, who owns the Subway sandwich shop at 27 Washington St., was also arrested in March at the restaurant for disorderly conduct and domestic assault and battery, after he allegedly struck his 5-year old son while talking to police. Police have also responded to the Subway for reports he was kicking customers and for backing his vehicle into another car in his parking lot, police said.Jeff Mucciarone can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
